Connecting DIY Hue to Hue Sync

By snorlaxprime

Now that you have a working DIY Hue you can connect this to Hue Sync App to make a cool effects/sync your light when you are playing movie, games or listening to the music.

If you don’t have a working DIY Hue, you can read all about it in my previous post.

Step 1. Setup entertainment area

Settings -> Entertainment Areas -> Create Entertainment Area.

You will be presented with the following screen to setup the entertainment area. You can position the light where it is located in the entertainment area.

Once that is setup you are now ready to move to the next step to sync the light with the Hue Sync App.

Step 2. Download the Hue Sync app

You can download the Hue Sync app from the following location

https://www.philips-hue.com/en-au/entertainment/hue-sync

Once you have download it, you can connect this to your diyHue. In my previous post, I installed the diyHue in a docker inside Raspberry Pi.

You will need to click on the “Activate” button in your diyHue to link it to Sync App:

Once it is sync you will be able to see that it is now connected as shown in the following picture:

You can now click on the scenes and have a play with a few of the settings as shown below:

To sync the light with when you are playing movie, you can click back on the Video, and then click on the “Start light sync” button.

Now your diy Hue should sync with the movie that is played on the screen. You can sit back relax and enjoy the scene.
